After 82 days and 5 surgeries, it seems he is recovering well, although his situation is still critical according to doctors. It has been a hard couple of months, very busy and stressful, so I didn’t have much time to update this blog nor to respond some comments. Sorry, I’ll do it in the next few weeks.

Anyway, as a distraction, I changed the blog theme (as you may have noticed) with a major makeover, since I was getting bored with the old one. Hopefully you’ll like this one, I believe it is more readable now. And if you find any error, don’t hesitate to contact me.

Tomorrow, I’ll be leaving for London to attend the QCon 2008 conference. So stay tuned, as I plan to live blog and twitter the event (as last year). If you are the same conference and would like to meet me, please come in and say hi!.

I don’t find any other reasons to explain why I started this blog

Seriously, today it is the first anniversary of this blog and that is something I am very proud of. I am sure that one year ago I didn’t imagine where this adventure will carry me. Now, I am satisfied with the results. I have learned a lot and, most important, I have connected with lots of others folks who share my same passion. Kelly, Luis and James are, among others, the main responsible that today I am still maintaining this blog.

What happened during this last year? 182 posts and 100 comments (and 18,459 spam comments ).

Although seeing the above image, I must admit that regularity is not my strength. I am sure Twitter and del.icio.us have something to do.

Hope that I will be able to post some more interesting articles about methodologies and tools. THANKS all of you for reading this blog!

Yes, a few weeks ago, I signed up on Twitter.

Why I’m doing this? Just check this post, or this one. They resume my interest in this new way of communication or social network. As you have noticed, this blog is dedicated to the software development life cycle, and I don’t usually post about myself or my personal interests. So twitter brings me the possibility to talk about what I’m doing or what I’m thinking on a more informal way, without blogging an elaborate post.

During these few weeks, I found twitter a quite good indeed. I discovered interesting things during my last trip to London, or I have met some twitter friends in real life.

So here we are. If you want to track my activity, check my twiterings. And feel free to add me as a friend.

I followed Sam’s instructions, but I found a problem when I tried to delegate my identity. Sam’s post talks about decrufting the openid.delegate, setting $idp_url to the value you want it to be, in this case, my blog address. The problem is that I must use phpMyID version 0.5 instead of version 0.3 (I’m running PHP in CGI mode), and this hack doesn’t work with version 0.5.

After reviewing the phpMyID code, it seems that the MyID.php script checks that the end user identity matches the IdP URL, and this is the main reason which caused the problem. So why don’t define a “delegate” var and use it as the identity match? In this way, you can authenticate a controlled end user identity URL that it’s different to the IdP URL. I modified the code and tested the new setup. Now it works!

So, if you have the same problem, download this patch version of phpMyID, change the $profile['delegate'] at MyID.config.php file, and run it again.

PD: I have emailed Christopher J. Niemira, but unfortunately I didn’t have any response from him.
